All you need is…

Call me a hopeless romantic, but I’ve always loved Valentine’s Day. I love the color red and I love all things heart-shaped. Even back when I was in high school I use to bake heart shaped sugar cookies and hand them out to my teachers and classmates. Nerdy, I know. I know not everyone may share my same enthusiasm, but that’s because I think most of us have forgotten the true spirit of the occasion. We’re all so overly consumed with the idea of having to have that special someone, and for those of us who already do we stress out over buying the perfect gift for them, that we forget that it’s just about telling those in our lives how much we love them.  That’s right, it’s about the special people already in our lives, a parent, a sibling, a loyal dog (or cat), your mailman or the nice person you buy coffee from each morning who always remembers that you like your cup with one sugar, not two.  Valentine’s Day isn’t about how many roses you get or what fancy, overpriced restaurant you can make a reservation to. It’s about telling the people you love, simply that, you just love them. Let’s be honest, as much as we want to say we should do that all year long, we don’t. So go out there, hand out heart shaped sugar cookies, give your neighbor a hug. Make this world a more lovable place!

Oh, and if I haven’t told you already. I love you. Yes, YOU. My faithful blog readers who have stuck by me all these years, even when I go missing for months on end, always offering me words of encouragement and support, always using lots of exclamation marks when referring to my work, and never judging me for my grammatical errors. Yup. I love you guys <3

let yourself feel

Sometimes the noise around us can get to be so overwhelming.  Let’s all take a moment to slow down. Take a deep breath. Feel the sunshine. Kiss the rain. Say hello to your neighbor. Today is a great day.

The Colors of Asia : Charity Calendar

As much as I love shooting weddings and getting couples in love to cuddle and kiss on cue, producing W.A.V.E.’s (Women’s Alliance for Vietnam’s Education) annual charity calendar is something I look forward to every year. W.A.V.E. is  a non-profit organization made up of exemplary college students who work year round to raise money to fund educational programs back in Vietnam. This is the third year we’ve collaborated and it’s truly a labor of love. It’s a nice change of pace for me and giving back to the community is always good for the soul. Contact me if you’d like more information on where these calendars are being sold. You know you want one……..or at least know of someone who might ;)

 Here are just a few of my favorite shots:
